Changing exhibition plans

My previous exhibition plan was to create an installation piece that used image projection to illustrate my point. However completing my portfolio changed my mind, this was by seeing the finalised prints and preferring the aesthetic over a projection.

Finding the right frames however was a more difficult decision since I still wanted a sense of mechanical production. Generic frames, for example; a white, plain black or wood frame would give off a different impression to something more rustic and distinctive. I feel a traditional frame would lose the idea of landscape photography having this heavy influence of the process. I soon came across NKUKU frames which are a company that make home furnishings that have a very ‘rustic’ style. In particular the extra-large Kiko glass and zinc frame caught my eye.

These frames are 36x29cm which means I can print on A3 paper to keep cost down and retain very high print quality, which I believe gets lost with larger print sizes. This does mean I will require more frames to fill the space, at least 8 frames will be needed with 1 4x6 frame to house a negative to complement the images. The total cost of these frames would be approximately £308, which is not a safe option, however the exhibition is less about saving money and more defined on the work itself.
