Pricing up the exhibition

By not having framed prints on the wall, my exhibition becomes instantly less cost affective. The materials being used are white bed sheets, an overhead projector and the raw negatives that were exposed to the landscapes. The cost of the film ended up being £35 for the entire box I used, as well as the bed sheets costing £10.99 each with only needing 2 of them. The overhead projector is borrowed from the university so doesn’t cost anything. The books will cost £110 for 2 books to display at the exhibition, to display these I could buy a shelf to fix to the wall although this will have to be discussed with the university so see if this is allowed. Otherwise I would borrow a table which would not have the same aesthetic simplicity but will be free.

A plain wood shelf will cost me £5.99 which would need painting white and I already have the materials for painting. With all of this the materials for my exhibition would cost approximately £161.98.

Putting the materials together will be a simple task, the white sheets will be taped onto the walls with the sheet tucked over to hide the tape.

Due to the lightweight of the she sheets I cannot justify spending much more on extra secure methods such as nailing and pinning. Although if the tape is not successful these methods will be explored.

The idea of the instillation is not to save money but to convey the idea of my project in a more creative manor and create a viewing experience that is different to a standard photographic print layout. As well as a projection having this ‘looking in’ quality where the viewer has a more cinematic experience.
